Selection Process

Directions for Applying to the “Ship for World Youth Program” FY2019

The Selection Process for the “Ship for World Youth Program” FY2019 consists of the following steps:

  • assignment   Written exams (English and general knowledge exams) in your selected venue Guide here
  • rowing   Community participation in your venue
  • assignment_ind   Psychometric exams
  • nature_people   Camp with SWY former participants and the National Leader (SWYAA México), interviews will be developed during the camp activities.
  • directions_boat   Final interview with the Japanese Embassy, Ministry of Youth and SWYAA México in Mexico City

Avoid conflicts

In order to avoid any conflicts with filling out your application, be advised that before starting it, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have your written task already written and the link to your video ready to paste them, as part of your online application form, when required.

Duplicated application

To avoid any problems with your online application, please abstain from interrupting it and resuming later on. If your application is duplicated (in other words, if you send more than one application) it will be automatically dismissed. It is also advisable to NOT fill your application from a mobile device because sometimes it does not work properly.

Note that there will be no confirmation email that your application has been received. The way to confirm that it has been received correctly is through the “Thank you” message that you will see on your screen once you finished your online application.

arrow_rightOnce the deadline (Wednesday, July 31st, 11.55pm GMT -05:00 Mexico City Time), or the number of candidates (1,500 candidates) is reached, the application form will be closed and the instructions for the next stage of the process as well as the names of the selected participants will be posted in SWYAA Méxicos’ website and facebook fanpage. This will happen on Monday, August 12, 2019.

arrow_rightThe next step is the written exams in your selected venue on Saturday, August 17th, 2019 from 7:30 a.m., and this will last, most likely, for the entire day.

arrow_right If you are among the selected participants, you will be required to participate in group activities and outdoor community activities in your selected venue for the whole Saturday and Sunday (August 24 and 25, 2019). This is the next stage in the selection process. Specific instructions will be given for these activities.

arrow_right The finalists will be submitted to psychometric exams and afterwards they will attend the camp nearby Mexico City, where activities and interviews will be developed by SWY former participants and the National Leader (SWYAA Mexico) for the whole Saturday and Sunday (September 7 and 8, 2019). Specific dates and instructions for each finalist will be given prior to the event.

arrow_right Final interview with the Japanese Embassy, Ministry of Youth and SWYAA México in Mexico City will take place on Monday, September 10, 2019.

arrow_right The dates and times shown are most likely the final ones but they could be modified by the Organizing Committee at any given time.

arrow_right Should any conflict arise in any respect, it will be analyzed and handled by the Organizing Committee and the decision resulting will be final.

Once this process (the Selection Process) is over, only the 11 finalists will start their “Preparation Process” for the SWY program including the National Leader.
